Cabrini ED Registrar Positions 2024
About Cabrini
Cabrini is a Catholic charitable organization (private hospital) inspired by the spirit and vision of Saint Frances Xavier Cabrini and the Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
The Malvern site is a tertiary teaching hospital with inpatient services across all medical and surgical subspecialties. Our other inpatient services include a 138-bed acute hospital in Brighton, and a 30-bed private women’s-only mental health facility in Elsternwick.
About the Emergency Department
Located in the inner Melbourne suburb of Malvern, Cabrini ED is FACEM-run department that focuses on excellence in patient care through our values of compassion, integrity, courage and respect.
We are a well-resourced department which has been operational for 20 years, with yearly attendances of over 25,000 and a 40 percent admission rate reflective of high patient complexity and acuity. We expanded in 2019 to 28-beds with intra-departmental X-ray, CT, and ultrasound. We enjoy a highly collegiate relationship with our inpatient specialist colleagues making referrals a smooth experience.
We are a non-major referral ED accredited by ACEM for 12 months of advanced training including Paediatric Log Book, and are affiliated with Monash University for medical student education.
Our highly successful Fellowship Exam program is run by an enthusiastic, experienced teaching team offering exposure to ACEM examiners. Since 2019 we have had a >80% success rate in the Written and Clinical Fellowship Examinations.
We have a strong focus on education, patient experience, quality improvement, and innovation.
We provide weekly Education and Fellowship Teaching protected time along with excellent paediatrics experience (20% case mix) and access to regular in-house Paediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Neonatal Resuscitation and Adult ALS Courses. A Cabrini practice Fellowship Clinical Exam for Cabrini Registrars has been successfully run since 2017 and continues in partnership with The Austin Hospital twice a year. We also have FACEM-led in-situ multidisciplinary simulation program.
We have a dedicated nursing-led patient follow-up service that contacts all discharged patients.
